Congratulations to Candice the winner of our Mpther’s Day Contest. Here is her special tea moment with Mom:

I worked overseas in China for a year. My mother, who had never traveled, came to visit me. I will never forget sitting down to tea with her in a cafe in China. The realization of how her mother’s love compelled her to leave her comfort zone.

Please enjoy a tea moment while you read this touching collection.

At Libre Tea we believe we are all interconnected and so for us doing business is doing good.

This week we are attending the Social Venture Institute Conference in Vancouver and connecting with other like-minded entrepreneurs.

We are learning ‘best practices’ to build our capacity for good and ensure our decision making at Libre is aligned with our values.

We truly are committed to tea moments – a moment to connect with ourselves and the world. Tea moments provide an opportunity to reflect and become aware of our own actions and feelings. And thus we can make choices in our own lives that contribute to our own happiness and ultimately the greater good.

As Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.’

Remember there is an opportunity for stillness in the mayhem of these days – take time to have a tea moment today.

“Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day,

I can hear her breathing.” ― Arundhati Roy

Happy Mother’s Day!

Grandma had been napping when our car pulled up outside the farmhouse and I had jumped out and gone running inside to greet her. She awoke, saw me, and started crying. Dad came in and asked what had happened. She said, “I’m so happy to see you both.
Use glass or stainless steel containers

Buy products that are environmentally friendly and have as little packaging as possible

Reduce packaging by making one’s own meals as much from scratch as possible

Take military showers – wet your body, shut the water off… lather up and then rinse fast and get out.

Quick showers rather than baths

Check faucets for leaks regularly

Turn off water while brushing teeth.

Use Vinegar in the washing machine instead of fabric softener and in the dishwasher instead of rinse aid. Better for the environment , better for your wallet and better for you!

Use reusable water bottles instead of plastic. Always pack groceries in reusable bags rather than plastic. If invest in a refillable pen (such as a fountain pen) if you do a lot of hand-writing

Did you know that only 1% of the water on earth is available for humans? We wanted to share with you tips on saving water.

Check all your faucets & toilets for leaks and fix or replace. Replace toilets with a low-flush toilet and faucets with low-flow fixtures

Shower instead of bath – A 5 min. shower uses up to 25 gallons where a bath uses approximately 70 gallons

Use a timer to ensure showers don’t last longer than 5 minutes

Make sure dishwashers and washing machines have a full load before using

When purchasing new a news dishwasher/washing machine make sure you choose a water efficient model

Insulate you hot water pipes – this will prevent the hot water from cooling before it gets to the faucet

Turn off the water while brushing your teeth

I just have to tell you how wonderfully strong your products are!! My 24 year old daughter left the house, does a u-turn in the middle of the street and drives up the hill! When she went to the car, her hands were full, so she put the Libre tea canister on top of her car! YUP!! You guessed it!! It did fall off, but not until she had driven to the top of the hill!!! Amazing!! It did NOT break!! The lid is dented and the tea bag, hadn’t used loose leaf today, exploded!

Sincerely,
Ellen K., Portage, WI

Starting March 17th to 22nd (World Water Day)

Use coupon code ‘World Water Day’ to receive 10% off your order

The Global Women’s Water Initiative provides training for grassroots women to be able build simple water and sanitation technologies so they can become self-reliant and improve their communities’ health. GWWI provides women with the tools and skills to build water and sanitation technologies with the potential to start micro-businesses offering much needed services to their communities.

To date, GWWI has trained women from 9 countries in Africa. GWWI women who had never picked up a shovel before in their lives have challenged traditional gender roles, building toilets, rainwater harvesting systems with water tanks and various water treatments to clean water. Because of their efforts over 6000 people have improved access to water and sanitation and 1/3 of the GWWI women’s projects are generating income.

Water Facts:

- 3-5 million people die every year from water related diseases, most are children

- In Africa alone, it’s estimated that women and children spend over 40 billion hours fetching water

- Nearly 40% of the world’s population live without access to adequate sanitation

-1 out of 10 girls drop out of school by the 8th grade when they start menstruating because there are no toilets in school

- 783 million people in the world do not have access to safe water, approximately 11% of the world’s population

- 2.5 billion people in the world do not have access to adequate sanitation, approximately 35% of the world’s population.

- Poor water quality increases the risk of such diarrhoeal diseases as cholera, typhoid fever and dysentery, and other water-borne infections.

- 10+% of people worldwide consume foods irrigated by wastewater that can contain chemicals or disease-causing organisms.

Thank you for helping us spread the awareness of World Water Day and support the Global Women’s Water Initiative!

The Libre Large makes a great water bottle!
